Pre-Notice of Race

The Vaurien World Championship is organised under the auspices of:

-          The International Vaurien class organisation

-          The German Sailing Federation, DSV

1. VENUE

1.1 The venue will be the - SCL – Segelclub Lembruch

1.2 The races will be sailed on the Lake Dümmer:

The Lake Dümmer is situated in the North of Germany approximately 40 km NE of Osnabrück.

The racing area is non-tidal and has fresh water.

2. SCHEDULE AND FORMAT

2.1 Schedule                                           

Informations about social events dates and venues will be posted at the Official Notice Board and in the Sailing Instruction.

2.2                Last possible start at Saturday, August  06.  is                                     13.00 hrs..

2.3                The maximum of Boats are 120 for this event.

3. ELIGIBILITY

All competitors (skippers and crew) shall comply with the ISAF Eligibility Code (ISAF Regulation 19, RRS Appendix 2).

The entry fee will be Euro  - 150,00 - for each boat. Entry fees are not refundable.

4. RULES

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

- No national presciptions shall apply

- Changes of Sailing Instructions will be posted at the official notice board. 

- Coach boats are not permitted at the lake Dümmer. 

- Appendix P shall apply

- Protesting boats need to display conspicuously a red flag at the first reasonable opportunity. This changes rule 61.1 (a) (2)

 5. MEASUREMENT  

All boats will be checked for compliance with the Class Rules. Measurement will take place at the venue as scheduled in the program.

Any boat and its equipment may be subject to re-measurement or examination at any time during the event.

Basic or first measurements will not be done.

6. SCORING SYSTEM

The Low Point Score System of Appendix A of the Racing Rules will apply.

A maximum of sixteen races are scheduled.

A minimum of four races will constitute a series and the championship.

Each boat's series score shall be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score if 6 or more races are completed in the event and excluding her two worst scores if 12 or more races are completed.

7. INTERNATIONAL JURY

An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N.

The decision of the Jury shall be final in accordance with RRS 70.4

8. ADVERTISING

The organising authority may require competing boats to carry event-sponsoring advertising.

Nothing applied to hulls by the organising authority may be changed or removed during the regatta without written approval of the organising authority.

11. LIABILITIES

All competitors will race at their own risk and responsibility both civil and criminal. It shall be the sole responsibility of the helmsman to decide whether or not to race or to continue the race. The Organizers, the Race Committee and the Jury decline any responsibility whatsoever for damages that might occur to persons and/or objects during the races or in situations of rescue, both ashore and on the water, as a consequence of their participation in the races.
Liability Insurances are required for all competing yachts (Rule 68 R.R.). The policy must be shown at the completion of registration. The minimum of insurance is 2.000.000 Euro for each boat.

12. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS

By participating in the Vaurien World Championships, an athlete automatically grants to the organising authority and the sponsors of the event the right, in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any photos, motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition without compensation.
